Our meetings/programs, generally in the Stacy Barn, are held on the second Thursday of the months of May, June, September, and October. They are free and open to the public. Refreshments are served.

A Colrain Christmas Potluck and Auction

Date: December 6, 2025

5-9 p.m. at the Shelburne-Buckland Community Center. Auctions, silent and live, will feature antiques, collectibles, Colrain ephemera, crafts, gift certificates, wreaths, boxwood centerpieces, and home-baked foods.

A Walk Through the Villages of Colrain Through Post Cards, 1910-1919.

Date: October 9, 2025

7:30 following the business meeting. Debby Wheeler will guide us through a tour of Colrain at a time before telephones, when postcards were a main means of communication. Annual meeting and election of officers and Board members.

Colrain and the Hill Towns on Canvas VI

Start date: September 19, 2025 - End date: September 21, 2025

At the Shelburne-Buckland Community Center, Friday, 6-9 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with more paintings of local scenes by noted and local artists, as well as antique maps and art for sale at this benefit exhibition.

Sheep, Fiber, Cloth and the Mills of Colrain

Date: September 11, 2025

7:30 p.m. following the meeting at 7. Cynthia Herbert and Nina Reyes trace this important strand of Colrain history, including Merino sheep farming, weavers, and, of course, our mills.

Ice Cream Social

A thank you to our volunteers, and a surprise 100th birthday celebration of one of our liveliest members, with cake and music, behind the Museum. And it’s free.

With hundreds of items on display from the 1900s to the present.

Colrain, Apple Capital!

Date: October 10, 2024

How the Apple Got to Colrain, and What We Did With It, will be the topic of the Colrain Historical Society’s October program.  West County Cider’s Field Maloney will tell the story of the apple in Colrain from early settlement to the present. Colrain’s history has been rich in apples, cider, and orchards for several centuries now. We will explore this rich history.

The program at 7:30 p.m. will follow the business meeting and election at 7 in the Stacy Barn behind the Pitt House.  Apple-y refreshments will be served, including cider.  The program is free and open to the public.

Colrain and Hilltowns on Canvas – 5th Annual Show!

Start date: September 21, 2024 - End date: September 22, 2024

Sept 21st and 22nd, 10 am to 4 pm

The Colrain Historical Society will sponsor the fifth annual fundraising art show at the Shelburne Buckland Community Center. Please join us for a rare opportunity to see this bit of visual history. Admission fee is $10.00. 

There will be over 50 paintings by 40 different artists as well as prints and reprints of some items in the Historical Society’s collection and old maps of our area for sale.
