Explore Historic Colrain

Living in Colrain is like living in a fossil field. Like old bones, throughout the town old stone walls for sheep enclosures, house foundations, and dams peek through the earth. You can see old farmhouses and barns. We are lucky that our past has not been erased by development as it has in so many places. Our goal, quite simply, is to preserve our past and share it.

The Colrain Historical Society is now restoring its own buildings, categorizing and reimagining the display of its many artifacts, and planning programs to help us better understand and appreciate our past.

But the Society also knows that history always starts yesterday and it will be developing ways to preserve our “present past.” This website is where the past and the present will be meeting. Enjoy!
